Add another flag to the NW Houston food map: The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has filed to open a Tomball-area location at 25545 Hwy 249, Ste. 140. A state licensing record shows construction kicked off in June with a finish line set for November, so this one's a "start planning your order now" situation, not a "grab lunch today."

The chain, family-founded in 2011 and built on gyros, falafel, hummus, and made-to-order Mediterranean plates, keeps expanding across Texas — and now it's betting on the 249 corridor. Here's a fundraiser that trades the rubber-chicken gala for a day of busting clay pigeons. The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation's fifth annual Sporting Clay Tournament hits Westside Sporting Grounds in Katy on Thursday, August 27 — and this year it's leveling up from two courses to three and from 60 teams to as many as 90.
