🥵 Today's weather: Cypress, today is the "merely hot" version of this week — high near 99°, but the heat index still climbs to about 108°, close enough to advisory territory that it doesn't much matter what NWS calls it. Rain stays mostly out of the picture until a 20% chance of showers or a stray thunderstorm after 3 p.m., and we only fall back to 77° overnight. Same rules as yesterday: outdoor plans before 10 a.m., a car check every time you park, and a knock on the door of the neighbor who still won't turn the AC below 78.

There's a $74 million answer to Cypress traffic — you'll just wait four years for it
Construction quietly started the second week of July on the Skinner Road–Greenhouse Road connection, a $74 million, six-lane underpass ducking beneath both US-290 and the Union Pacific tracks. Sidewalks and bikeways are included, and when it's done — in roughly four years — it hands Towne Lake a direct north-south shot straight to 290 instead of the current maze around it.
It's one piece of a bigger scramble. Harris County Precinct 3 is also studying Fry Road improvements from House Hahl Road to Cypress Walk Lane, with a design expected by summer 2027, because Cypress remains one of the fastest-growing communities in the Houston area — new subdivisions, shopping centers, and the Texans' incoming Toro District all landing faster than the road grid built for a much smaller town.

A rolled concrete truck turned Highway 99 into a parking lot for nine and a half hours
Just after sunrise Monday, a concrete mixer rolled into a ditch on Highway 99 westbound at Cypress-Rosehill Road, and every westbound lane closed behind it. RS Concrete, the truck's owner, confirmed the driver was hospitalized but is expected to be OK — no word yet on what caused the rollover.
If you left the house before 8 and sat in it: Houston TranStar didn't clear the scene until around 4 p.m., meaning one truck shut down one of the area's busiest connectors for nine and a half hours. Worth remembering next time someone complains the Skinner-Greenhouse underpass above can't get built fast enough.

Five years in, this West Road clinic is just getting started
Dynamic Sports & Family Chiropractic, at 20510 West Road, Suite 300, quietly hit its five-year mark on July 20 — no parade, just a staff social media post. In that time it's built out prenatal adjustments, pediatric care, sports rehab, cupping, and dry needling for neighbors who'd rather not drive into the Energy Corridor to get their back looked at.
