Today's joke: How does the ocean say hi? It waves!

Good morning, Cypress. 🥵 Monday's back, and it brought its meanest outfit: triple digits with no rain to talk it down. Today: a "credit repair" outfit that Harris County says just repaired its own bank account, 170-some Cy-Fair golfers who apparently also ace algebra, a fender-bender that redecorated a yogurt shop, and the intersection that's been quietly taxing half of Cy-Fair. ☀️ Today's weather: Cypress, today doesn't negotiate — sunny and hot, high near 102°, with the heat index elbowing its way up to 105°. There's no rain in the forecast to bail us out, just a lazy southwest wind around 5 mph that won't do much more than push the heat around. Overnight low near 77°, so even the dark doesn't help much. Tuesday's forecast to run it right back at 100°. Keep the water bottle within arm's reach — if you're outside past 10 a.m. today, that's a choice, not a plan.

Harris County Attorney Abbie Kamin just sued Brian Wilson, United Funding Logistics LLC, UFL Debt Settlement LLC and Credit Beast LLC, accusing the operation of running a social-media-fueled credit counseling scheme that allegedly hit more than 200 consumers nationwide for upfront fees of $250 to $450 plus recurring subscription charges — while delivering, as the county puts it, "no meaningful assistance." Wilson isn't a licensed attorney, but the suit alleges he misrepresented that legal services were part of the package.

The county says the operation "generated millions of dollars through deceptive practices," targeting people who were already underwater on bills and looking for a way out. More than 170 CFISD golfers just earned 2026 academic all-district honors across District 16-6A and District 17-6A for the UIL golf season — a stat that says as much about study halls as it does about scorecards.

An elderly driver jumped the curb and drove straight into Menchie's Frozen Yogurt in the 10880 block of Louetta Road Thursday morning. "She seemed disoriented, but she wasn't hurt. She just seemed confused," witness Gabriel Rios told KPRC. EMS evaluated the driver at the scene, and nobody else was hurt.

Constable Mark Herman's deputies are still investigating what caused the crash, but the shop's exterior wall was the only thing that didn't walk away fine. Glad everyone's okay — and if you're driving past Louetta this week, maybe give that curb a little extra room.

Drivers navigating the SH 99/FM 529 interchange near Cypress and Katy have been complaining for a while that the confusing lane setup funnels them straight onto the Grand Parkway toll road by accident — and TxDOT is finally saying it hears them. The agency told KPRC it will send crews out to study how the interchange can be redesigned.

Until that happens, budget an extra second to read the signage before that intersection decides your commute costs more than you planned. We'll keep you posted on what — if anything — TxDOT actually builds.

CLS Health opened a new North Cypress clinic off Highway 290, bringing cardiology, endocrinology, primary care, podiatry, neurology, and orthopedics & sports medicine under one roof. "The Cypress and Katy communities continue to grow, and healthcare needs to grow with them," CEO Megan Owen said.

It's part of a bigger build-out — CLS Health is also expanding its Katy Ravello location (1400 Ravello Road, Suite 110) with cardiology, urology, pain management and OB/GYN expected by fall. Translation: fewer reasons to drive to the Medical Center for a routine appointment.
