Today's stories
Swenke Elementary students keep the Kindness for Kids in Crisis tradition going
Each year, students at Swenke Elementary in Cypress collect stuffed animals to donate to first responders — giving them something to hand to children caught in frightening or traumatic situations. The annual Kindness for Kids in Crisis initiative puts a tangible act of compassion in the hands of young Cypress kids who want to help their neighbors.
The stuffed animals end up with law enforcement and emergency responders, ready to offer one to a child at the scene of an accident, a difficult call, or another unsettling event. Why it matters here: this is the kind of neighborhood-to-neighborhood generosity that defines Cy-Fair — and it starts with elementary schoolers learning that helping is more than a good intention.

Kidcreate Studio is almost here — late-June opening set for Cypress
After running a mobile art studio in the Cypress area for nearly a year, Kidcreate Studio is finalizing its brick-and-mortar opening for late June. The creative arts studio serves kids ages 18 months through 12 years with hands-on classes in painting, drawing, sculpting, and more — plus birthday parties and summer camps.
The permanent location gives local families a dedicated spot for drop-in creative sessions and structured programs. Why it matters here: Cypress is getting a new hands-on art home for kids just as summer gets fully underway — good timing for families hunting for screen-free activities through August.
